This ties a little bit into the post you linked to on the domaintools blog about the domain names as a postal address.

I just purchased a good friend's newborn's name for them because they did not do this. They have a blogger blog up where family and friends are sharing pictures, etc. but no domain name. What happens if blogger goes away? Everyone needs a domain name. It seems like they would benefit from this social OS concept.

I blogged about this recently with regard to personal web space, and I think this can take it one step further and better. These are very interesting times!

Personal domains has been getting a lot of mainstream media coverage, but oddly enough, the concept hasn't gained any traction in the web hosting industry. I looked up Names.com for a couple dozen people I met at HostingCon. Believe it or not, most were available.

I don't get it. How is it possible that so many technology execs don't think their online identities are worth $6/year?

BTW, many of these same people have zero search presence. Google their names and you'll get absolutely nothing. How can that be good for someone's career?
