Such an interesting point... Social apps limit developers' ability to contribute to/fork underlying code, because there can't be multiple copies of MySpace/LinkedIn/etc and value of app comes from user data, which exist only in one place.

Will data like # hovers over link and hover time give rise to a new advertising model? Cost per hover? An in-between alternative to cost per impression and cost per click?
