I first heard about Aggregate Knowledge (AK) via Techcrunch in August. I mentioned their recommendation automation software to a few people in the web hosting industry, but no takers. AK was still working on its pricing scheme back then, but I just found out via VentureBeat that they've settled on performance-based billing: "If the customer is a news site, AK gets paid for increasing page views. If the customer is a product site, AK gets paid if it sells more products."
AK's approach is similar to OpSource's "Success Based Pricing". OpSource offers hosting infrastructure for SaaS developers. Billing is based on customer defined units.
Wouldn't it be cool if AK's and OpSource's services were combined in an ecommerce hosting package? It'd save retailers from worrying about seasonal traffic spikes and help maximize ROI from each website visitor.
